A Legacy of Justice: Attorney Steve Hoskins honored with the “Honorable Ben L. ‘Buck’ Bryan Distinguished Career Award”

Firm News Posted on May 28, 2025

In a moment filled with pride, gratitude, and heartfelt applause, Attorney Steve Hoskins was recently awarded the “Honorable Ben L. ‘Buck’ Bryan Distinguished Career Award” by the St. Lucie Bar Association—an honor that not only recognizes a lifetime of unwavering commitment to the law but also pays tribute to a man whose roots run deep in Fort Pierce.

For Steve Hoskins, this award is more than a career milestone—it is a reflection of a legacy built over four decades, shaped by family, community, and an unrelenting pursuit of justice and advocacy.

A fourth-generation Fort Pierce native

Steve Hoskins isn’t just a respected attorney on the Treasure Coast—he’s part of its history. A fourth-generation Fort Pierce native, his family has called this community home since 1908. He grew up walking the same streets he now serves, graduated from Central High School, and has devoted his career to protecting and advocating for his neighbors.

After completing his legal education at the prestigious Cumberland School of Law in Birmingham, Alabama, Steve was admitted to The Florida Bar in 1980. From there, he launched a journey of legal service that now spans over 45 years—each year marked by integrity, determination, and a deep belief in the power of the legal system to right wrongs.

A legacy of excellence

As the Senior Partner at Hoskins, Turco, Lloyd & Lloyd, Steve has become a household name in legal circles across Florida. His practice focuses on helping those hurt in car accidents, truck accidents, slip and fall cases, wrongful death claims, and insurance litigation matters—cases that often represent people at their most vulnerable moments.

Steve’s expertise and professionalism have earned him one of the highest recognitions in the legal field. In 1989, he became a Board Certified Civil Trial Lawyer, a distinction held by only 5 percent of attorneys in Florida. This certification is a hallmark of legal excellence and is reserved for those who demonstrate superior skills, ethics, and a deep commitment to their clients and community.

Throughout his career, Steve Hoskins has never wavered from his core mission: to demand justice and ensure accountability for those who’ve suffered due to negligence. Whether battling insurance giants or standing beside grieving families, Steve has built a reputation for compassion, courage, and an unyielding will to win.

His leadership in the courtroom has earned numerous awards. Among the most notable is the Florida Justice Association’s BRONZE EAGLE Award, which celebrates his dedication to protecting the rights of Florida citizens and upholding the integrity of the civil justice system.

More than a lawyer, a community champion

What truly sets Steve Hoskins apart, however, is not just what he’s accomplished in the courtroom—but what he’s given back outside of it.

Steve is a man of service in the truest sense. His commitment to the people of St. Lucie County extends well beyond legal counsel. For decades, he has been deeply involved in supporting local organizations and uplifting the lives of those in need.

He has proudly served as a member of the Sunrise Kiwanis and the St. Lucie County Fair Association, organizations known for their civic engagement and impact on youth and families. Every year, Steve participates in PSL Christmas Kids, ensuring local children receive toys during the holiday season—bringing joy and hope to families who might otherwise go without.

He reads to elementary school students, shares the joy of literacy, and gives out annual scholarships to help local students pursue their dreams. His generosity touches lives through donations to organizations such as the Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Lucie County, Learn to Read St. Lucie County, and Mustard Seed Ministries, where he not only donates but also helps pack meals for disadvantaged families.

Steve’s heart for service also reaches into areas often overlooked: he actively supports and donates to cancer organizations, women’s advocacy groups, and mental health initiatives, showing that his care for his community spans all walks of life and every stage of need. In addition, he has served on the St. Lucie Bar Association, not just as a legal leader, but as someone who has helped shape and guide the ethics, professionalism, and service values of the legal community in the region.

Even after more than four decades of legal service, Steve Hoskins continues to find ways to step up when his community calls. At a recent St. Lucie Bar Association luncheon, he learned there was a growing need for more county court mediators on the Treasure Coast. Without hesitation, and with a heart still fully committed to service, Steve went back to training and became a certified county court mediator—adding yet another dimension to his already storied career. What’s more, he now donates his time to perform pro bono mediation work, simply because he believes that if he can help his community, he will. It’s just one more example of the humility, compassion, and servant leadership that define Steve Hoskins.

Honoring a lifetime of achievement

Receiving the Honorable Ben L. “Buck” Bryan Distinguished Career Award is a fitting capstone to Steve’s enduring service. Named after a legal icon who represented justice with honor and compassion, the award acknowledges not just years of practice, but a career devoted to lifting others up.

In many ways, Steve Hoskins embodies the very spirit of the Treasure Coast—steadfast, resilient, and rooted in values that transcend time. This award doesn’t just honor the years he has served; it celebrates the difference he has made in the lives of thousands. As the applause echoed through banquet hall and colleagues gathered to pay tribute, one thing was clear: Attorney Steve Hoskins’ story is far from over—but his legacy is already firmly etched into the heart of St. Lucie County.

Congratulations, Steve Hoskins. Your community stands proudly with you.
