Hoskins, Turco, Lloyd & Lloyd Fights for the Residents of River Park

In the early 1700s, on the lookout for daring and bloodthirsty buccaneers like Charles Vane, “Calico” Jack Rackham, and Edward “Blackbeard” Teach, the galleons of the Spanish Treasure Fleet sunk off the coast of Florida in a hurricane. Already an important area in the New World, St. Lucie first appeared on Spanish maps in the early 16th century. Flash-forward a couple of hundred years, and the residents called their area of Florida the Treasure Coast, distinguishing it from the Gold Coast of the Miami area.

The Saint Lucie County area prides itself on being more easygoing than its metropolitan neighbors to the south, and River Park may be one of the most relaxed communities of them all. With a little over 7,000 residents at last count, the town offers a mixture of suburban and rural areas with both quality schools and engaging nightlife. It’s a great place for families that want to have a good time as well as a good home.

Located on the St. Lucie River, River Park is a little further away from the Atlantic Ocean’s beach but has plenty of access to water sports and fishing thanks to the River Park Marina. Less than a thirty-minute drive to Indian River State Park, affordable housing and a growing job market makes River Park an excellent place for a new home for everyone from young families to “winter visitors” looking to settle down for good.

Hoskins, Turco, Lloyd & Lloyd proudly serves this community and is available to aid you if you have been injured in a boat accident, car accident, slip and fall, or similar injury case. We are highly familiar with the St. Lucie court system as well as the typical liability insurance claims process, giving you the resources you need to maximize your chances of receiving appropriate compensation.

If You Drive, You May Have An Accident. If You Have An Accident, You Might Need Us.

Florida brings in tourists almost year-round — and with that a unique challenge to local drivers. Like every other state in the union, Florida requires drivers to have a minimum level of auto insurance. However, the Sunshine State only requires drivers to have both Personal Injury Protection (PIP) and Personal Damage Liability (PDL). Essentially, this requirement means regardless of whoever’s at fault for an accident, both parties will be eligible to receive some amount of compensation, but at-fault drivers may not have the Bodily Injury Liability (BIL) policy typically required by other states. Injury victims may, therefore, may need to determine if there are other parties at fault who could provide the needed coverage.

Fault, in the legal sense, is decided by the level of “negligence” for both parties. In Florida (and many other states), the fault is split proportionally among all contributing parties. An accident can be found to be 60% the fault of one driver and 40% the fault of the manufacturer of a defective product, for example. In this case, each party would split the total liability damages according to the 60/40 ratio.

“Negligence” is determined by whether or not the parties involved in the accident failed in their duty of care to prevent the resulting injury. Everyone who gets behind the wheel implicitly agrees to a responsibility to protect other drivers and pedestrians from harm or unreasonable risk due to their actions. For example, a car exceeding the speed limit is violating their “duty of care,” and should they be involved in an accident, they would be likely to be found liable because they’re putting others at unreasonable risk. Car manufacturers have a duty of care to release vehicles that are safe and that are made using acceptable manufacturing standards.

In light of our injury law system, proving fault and establishing liability can quickly become complicated. That’s where a River Park personal injury lawyer from Hoskins, Turco, Lloyd & Lloyd comes in. We fight to help you prove liability and seek reasonable compensation from all available liability policies. One of our experienced attorneys can help you seek the compensation you need to get on with your life, whether it’s through the courts or by negotiating with an insurance company.
